3 PAINTINGS - 3 DAYS!

Dates: Thrusday, Friday and Saturday, April 29th, 30th, & May 1st, 2010  / Times each day: 9:00 - 5:00

Holiday's Plus/Studio and Monroe Artists are hosting Dorothy Dent for a 3 day seminar. 

It would be a good idea to be there by 8:30 so you can get your pattern on your canvas and get settled in for the day.  The Fee is $75.00 for Thursday and Friday and $65.00 for Saturday.  Sign up for one, two, or all three days.  There is a deposit of $25.00 per day, due before Marcy 1st, to give us a number of painters that will be there each day.  This is so Dorothy can make up the patterns she will need for each day's class.  If you have a friend or friends that would be interested in the class, please let them know of this seminar.  The center will hold 25 to 30 students.

If you have paid your G.L.R. Dues by January 1, 2010 they will pay $50.00 on one of your days of painting.  The meeting for the G.L.R. will be held on Friday night after we paint.

If you do not have oils, Dorothy will have her paints, so a palette may be purchased for $10.00 per day, but if you do have oil paints, feel free to bring them.  Dorothy will also be bringing with her some burshes, packets, books, and paintings that can be purchased.  For the cleaning of your brushes we would like if you would use clean odorless turp, or use baby oil.  You will also need to bring a 16"x20" canvas for each day you are planning to paint.

The seminar will be held at the Hilltop Community Center out in the country above Hannibal, OH.  The center has plenty of room and lighting.  Also, there is plenty of parking.  The center has a full kitchen we will be able to use for our lunches.  The nearest restaurants are at least 15 min. from us.  To save time we will have potluck lunches.  Coffee and ice tea will be provided, if you want pop or any other kind of drink please bring it to class.  If you live close to Hannibal and would like to bring something to help with the lunches, let Georgia know when you make your deposit.  Anything would be welcome.  For painters that travel long distances, chips, cookies, crackers and other snacks would be much appreciated.  One thing painters have in common, besides painting, is we know how to set up a good table of food.  Georgia will have acupole of crock[-pots of something good to eat, chili and sloppy joes.  Cups, Plates, plastic silverware, and napkins will be provided. 

The supplies needed for the seminar:  TABLE EASEL, ODORLESS TURP, BLACK GRAPHITE PAPER, PEN OR PENCIL, PAPER TOWLES,  CUP FOR MEDIUM, BURSHES, OIL PAINTS (if you have them), 16"x20" CANVAS (each day)

Again Dorothy will have these brushes for sale, but if you have brushes that you like to use, bring them.  Painters who are bringing their own paints, these are the paints you will need for each day. 

 

MOTEL ACCOMODATIONS:  Hannibal does not have any hotels or restaurants so you will find them in New Martinsville, WV.  Below is a list of the hotelsL:

There is a wide range of restaurants in New Martinsville, of course the normal fast burger places, 2 Chinese, Bob Evans, 5 Pizza places, 1 Mexican, Choo Choo's (comfort foods), Po Boy (comfort foor and salad bar), Charlie's Candelight (fine dinning).  Most are all on SR 2  - the main highway through New Martinsville.
